Climate Transparency is pleased to welcome a new partner from Japan – The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). The Institute has been established in 1998 based on an initiative of the Japanese government. In Since 2012 IGES is incorporated as Public Interest Incorporated Foundation.

IGES conducts research in three different fields: Climate and Energy, Natural Resources and Ecosystem Services, Sustainable Consumption and Production. In its research IGES aims to clarify emerging challenges currently facing Asia, as well as to develop policy research and recommendations for problem-solving.

As a part of Partnership, IGES provides expertise on Japan’s climate policy and contributes as one of the authors of the Brown to Green Report.

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies has about 180 staff members, a headquarter in Tokyo, branch offices in a number of Japanese cities and international offices in Beijing, Delhi and Bangkok.
