On 1 March 2025 Iniciativa Climática de México took over the role of the Secretariat of Climate Transparency from the Berlin Governance Platform (BGP; before that HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Governance Platform). A brand-new Climate Transparency is emerging with a stronger focus on partners from emerging economies making the Partnership even stronger and more relevant.
ICM is the Mexican partner of Climate Transparency since 2016 and has provided technical and climate policy inputs that have been instrumental in increasing the impact of the network. ICM gathered further international experience by contributing to the UNEP Emissions Gap Report, Germanwatch’s Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), and the Ember Report.
“As the newly appointed International Secretariat of Climate Transparency, ICM steps into this role with deep gratitude and determination. We sincerely appreciate the trust placed in us and recognize the incredible value of our partners, whose dedication and collaboration have been instrumental in shaping this powerful civil society network. Their commitment continues to drive our shared mission forward. Together, we will strengthen our community and build lasting alliances in the face of the current complex international scenario. Transparency and cooperation will remain at the heart of our work as we advance this shared mission”, says Jorge Villarreal.
“We thank BGP and its team for nearly 10 years of leadership and the tremendous work they have done in the past years and wish all the best for future cooperation as a partner of Climate Transparency” adds Jorge Villarreal.
